Christmas is just around the corner and you can feel the Christmas spirit in the air!
Unfortunately, you can’t drink this spirit!
Most families this year will be having Christmas dinner together with their family. In some cases, they’ll be 15 people all crammed around 2 or three small tables while they tuck into their Christmas dinner!
For the family hosting Christmas, it can be a pretty expensive affair!
But it’s all part of celebrating Christmas and you do it out of the goodness of your heart, right?
One mom from the UK is charging her guests $40 a plate to attend her Christmas meal!
Gemma Andrews said she usually cooks for up to 16 people on the big day, and when your feeding that many people it can get very expensive!
The mum-of-four justified the charge, saying that the cost of food, drinks, and other preparations quickly add up to a big shopping bill!
She explained this led her to ask her family for a contribution when it came to preparing this festive feast.
In exchange for $40, there would be a three-course meal, drinks and a present for each guest.
Gemma went on the UK morning show, This Morning, to talk about it.
But her per plate charge was faced with harsh criticism.
No way would I make someone pay for Christmas dinner round my house! 😳😳 #ThisMorning

Author Kathy Lette, joining the debate and said Gemma’s admission fee was “making Scrooge look like Mary Poppins”.
Host Philip Schofield hinted that Gemma was running her Christmas dinner like a business, but the other presenter, Holly Willoughby, said $40 was a bargain for twelve hours of festive food and fun!
