20 Travelling Hacks That Will Make Your Trip To The Airport A Breeze

Going on holiday is something we all look forward to, the chance to kick back, relax and have a much needed break is what we need. But first, we’ve got to get through the flight and, even worse, the airport! That’s why we’ve found 20 amazing travelling hacks that will make your journey through the airport and onto the plane as easy and relaxing as the rest of your trip!

1. Book a night flight, you won’t regret it!

Fewer people want to fly at night, making tickets for night flights cheaper, less packed out with other passengers and less likely to be delayed. Oh, and because of the air being fresher at night, you’re less likely to hit turbulence, what’s not to like?

2. Listen to what other passengers are doing

Airports can have little hidden gems that you may not know about, so try to find out what other passengers are doing while they wait for their flights. For example, Munich’s airport has a brewery, Helsinki has saunas, and Amsterdam airport has a huge museum of modern art!

3. Find out where employees are eating

The airport employees know all the best places and for the best price. If you spot an employee eating in one of the restaurants, you know you’re making a good choice.

4. There is always free wi-fi

Can’t stand to be away from technology for a moment? Just look around, you’ll find free wi-fi everywhere, especially near waiting areas, lounges, cafes, and duty free stores.

5. Check your luggage last to get it back first

The last bags onto the plane will be the first ones off, that’s a no brainer. Also, if you can, travel with a more ‘girlish’ looking bag. As women are perceived to be more likely to travel with fragile items like perfume bottles, their bags are treated more gently.

6. Always take a power strip

What are the chances that you’ll be able to find enough plugs in the airport to charge all of your gadgets? Very little, so take a power strip and charge to your hearts content!

7. Take your pet with you

If you’re afraid of flying then having your furry friend by your side can make you feel a whole lot better about the whole thing. With a paper from a psychologist, you can register your pet as an emotional support animal, which allows them to be on flights with you, but only if you ask the airline for permission first.

8. There are websites that will show you the seating plans of all planes

You can use these sites to choose the best seats for you when you’re checking into your flight, you’ll never have a bad seat again.

9. A connecting flight can be it’s own adventure

If you’re looking to save money, try a connecting flight. Not only can these work out much cheaper, but you could get out into the city if you have a long wait at the airport and see somewhere new. If you have a very long connection, some airlines may even offer you a free hotel room for your stay.

10. If your luggage is going over the weight limit, have some things on you or split them with someone else.

If you don’t want to pay more because of your baggage allowance, keep as many items on you as you can. If you’re still pushing the limit and you’re travelling with someone, see if they’ll let you put some of your items into their case.
